Home Health Aid Classes
HSIC is a State approved school that offers a 2-week home health classes including theory and clinical experience. Our clinical affiliations are with the Visiting Nurses’ Association for home health and hospice, Wilrose Hospice, American Home Health, and In Home Health agencies. After the 2-week training, HSIC will send documentation of completion to the State to issue your HHA license.
CNA/HHA is the absolute entry-level as a beginning career in patient care. Because certified home health aides must also be certified nursing assistants (CNA), many individuals work as home health aides to build experience while waiting for general hospital CNA positions to open. General hospital CNA positions are unionized and the wages are usually $16-$21/hr with benefits for full time employees.
While work opportunities in acute hospitals are rare, many CNAs moved up to be HHAs for work flexibility while advancing with their nursing careers.
Required Training
- To qualify for enrollment into the Home Health Aide Program, individuals must have a CNA license.
- A 120-hour stand alone HHA training program is also available for those who do not have CNA licenses and would only want to provide care to patients at home.
