IV Therapy Certification

In order to work in IV therapy, employers require applicants to have completed an accredited nursing program and hold a valid nursing license. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing may be preferred. Experience in surgical nursing and IV therapy is usually required. Additionally, IV therapy certification is often sought by employers. CPR or basic life support certification is a typical employment requirement.

Our IV Therapy certification class will teach you about common intravenous medications and electrolyte and fluid calculations. Our students gain skills in phlebotomy and learn about medical issues that arise from IV therapy. Aspiring IV nurses also learn about catheters specific to long- or short-term treatments, including peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) and central venous lines.
